A picture is worth a thousand words. A simple truism. Using pictures in marketing is not always so simple, yet is can be if you let it. The search engines love pictures. The social sites love pictures. All the places where people gather, the pictures are a primary factor.

Would you like to use that for marketing purposes? You can, and it isn't hard at all. If you can get a good collection of pictures together, and can get a logo or website address on them, then you already have what you need. The bigger half of the equation.

The second part of the equation is getting them to where people can see them. The search engines make that fairly simple. Get them on a web page(s) and build up some good links to it(them). Once you have done that, over time they will start to show up in the search engines more.

Social sites also make it fairly easy for you. Build up a list of friends and get them to post comments on your pictures. The more comments and ratings (depends on the site) your pictures get, the more likely they will show up in searches.

There is no limit to the number of pictures you can get out on the web. If every one of them has a logo or web address on it, and a good description to go with it, than you have a good chance of drawing a crowd back to your site(s) with them.

If a picture is worth a thousand words than a video is worth twenty four thousand a second. If you are unfamiliar with video, the standard is twenty four frames (pictures) per second of video. Even a short video can tell a person a lot of information. This simple fact is what has made the commercial the dominate form of advertisement since TV became affordable.

The internet has only increased this ability. A video that might have once only reached thousands, can now reach millions. It can also do it faster. Thanks to embeddable video players and web links you no longer need to tell a friend about the cool video you saw, you just put it in your blog or send him / her the link.

So how can you use this for marketing purposes? The real question is, how can't you use it? The possibilities are truly endless. Whatever your ideas about the difficulty involved, the only limits are your budget and imagination. No matter how odd the idea may seem, it might just be the one to give you a home run.

The ease at which videos can be put up on the web, and spread around means you have no excuse to not try it. Consider the potential for exposure to your site. Wouldn't you like to see a million people visit your site because they saw a cool video you put up? Remember, there is no right or wrong with online video. The strangest things become popular, and there really is no reason behind it. So get your camera, and start making some videos.

The Curse of Video Marketing

Video marketing is a powerful force in today's world. It may be a long shot, but the potential of a video to go viral makes even the strangest ideas worth exploring. You never know what might take off and go viral, spreading to millions of viewers in days.

YouTube has made it very easy to put videos up online. I would have to say, too easy. This is the curse of YouTube. You might be a great marketer, or just enjoy making videos, but you will still face the same problem all new YouTubers face. Getting views.

You see, as potent a tool for marketing as YouTube; and sites like it, are there is a simple problem for all of us trying to use it. The fact that everyone else is too. I don't know how many videos are put up on YouTube every day, but it's a lot. Until you can hit the magic number and get a video with a lot of views, no one will know who you are.

When you first start on YouTube, it is a huge mountain to climb. You must face a variety of challenges. First is getting anyone to watch your videos at all. The second is dealing with the large number of people that like to go around and talk trash. The hardest mountain to climb is getting a video high enough in the rankings to do you any good.

You need to aim for five thousand or more views, and a couple of dozen comments. After that, you can start to see some major traffic. Don't expect it to just happen, I tried that and it doesn't work at all. There is still a great deal of potential to YouTube, but it is not easy. Just remember the possible rewards if you do pull off a viral video, and stick with it. To summarize, for every viewer there are a thousand choices, you need to do your best to make sure you're one of them.

More on Picture Marketing

There is a simple truth about people on the internet. They like pictures. I would like to share some of my observations and ideas on using that to your advantage. Now I know getting good internet traffic can be a pain. It seems like a few sites always just sit at the top of the rankings and never move or change. Luckily in my pursuit of learning to sell my music online I also learned a lot of odd ways to market products.

One of the most interesting was using pictures. There are many sites out there that allow you to put pictures on them. The kicker is that the search engines love pictures. I probably get a couple of dozen hits on the pictures from my site a day, and I don't use very many.

Just think what having a massive collection of pictures on your site could do. Suddenly you will find that your site is getting massive hits just on the pictures. Of course, in order to take advantage of that you might need to do something a little bit sneaky.

Like...putting your websites address on all the pictures, and back linking all your pictures to your site. This has lead me to a new idea (at least it is to me). Viral Picture Marketing. By putting your pictures in high volume places, and places the search engines love, you can boost your traffic in days. I have successfully used this method, and now you can too.
